The day we became Mr. and Mrs.
05.09.09 - Detroit, Michigan

We got married on May 9, 2009 in downtown Detroit, Michigan.  After a year and a half of planning and sticking true to what we wanted to make the day "ours"...it was everything we could have hoped for.  We were surrounded by 160 of our closest friends and family and were proud to show off the somewhat "dysfunctional" at times city we met, fell in love and got engaged in, downtown Detroit.

The weather was all over the map, but it just made for more laughter than getting us down!  It was windy, cloudy and began to rain as soon as I was ready to leave the trolley to head into the church for the ceremony...of course!  After our full Catholic mass at Old St. Mary's was over and we opened the doors to leave the church, the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day!

We kicked off the party at the Garden Bowl on Woodward (where we met), stopped in at our local water hole, Foran's Grand Trunk Pub at Woodward and Congress and headed on down to the Roostertail for what we thought was a pretty fabulous party!

Here are some pictures to illustrate the day.  Our photographer was the amazingly talented and oh so fabulous Dionne Haglund of The Shooting Gallery.  I don't mind if you borrow any one of my pictures for inspiration, just make sure you give me credit :) (amyvan317).  If you have any questions about anything, you can always email me at amyvan317 at comcast.net and I would be happy to help you out!

Our first dance song was a surprise to me until this moment.  Steve gave me an engraved frame with the words to our first dance song included in the picture part.  I loved the note.  My maid of honor had gotten me "Soon to be Mrs." stationary and he crossed off the soon to be part. :) Oh, the song was "My Love for You is Real" by Ryan Adams and the Cardinals.

Now...the party starts...

Since The Shooting Gallery did such an awesome job capturing the details and dance shots in collages, I thought I would just post these as they were on the blog.
